Berlin Today Award

The BERLIN TODAY AWARD (BTA) first took place in 2003 as a short film competition. While the Berlinale Talent Campus Berlin acts as the organizer of the Berlin Today Award, the KurzFilmAgentur Hamburg has taken on the responsibility for the worldwide distribution of short films featured in the Berlin Today Award.

With sponsorship and support from the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the German Foreign Office, the participants of the current Berlinale Talent Campus – as well as the alumni from previous years – have the chance to submit their ideas and short film treatments for competition. Projects that will be made are chosen by a jury of experts. Amongst others, staff from the KurzFilmAgentur participate in the pre-selection stages of the competition. The filmmakers who are selected will be able to make a short film under professional conditions and will receive, together with a more than reasonable production budget, support in the form of equipment and know-how from the film and media industry.

The short films premiered at the opening of the Berlinale Talent Campus where the jury selected the winning films. The prize was awarded until 2012 within the programme of the Berlin International Film Festival.
